Electronic Publishing for Information Professionals

Chris Armstrong wrote this module in 2000 and it has been available to undergraduate and postgraduate full-time and distance learning students until October 2007.

While electronic publishing can be used for a range of activities from digitisation to the development of e-journals or e-books, and from database publishing to music publishing, it is used here to mean the development, creation and management of professional Web sites. In the library/information unit context, we can think of this as the creation of an outreach service to take services to new users or to develop new services for existing users. The library Web site is a gateway to resources and the library itself.

The 20-credit module was taught at the Department of Information Studies of Aberystwyth University. For full-time students it was taught over 2 semesters.

Module Resources are available from the link on the left.
